FAQ
What is Compactic?
A sound-based focus timer for iPhone and Android. You twist a dial, pick a ticking sound and a pace, and the tick keeps you company while you work — useful if you struggle to get started, want to focus on one task at a time, or just want to look at your phone less.
How does Compactic help you get started?
The tick gives you something to listen to instead of a blank countdown. Twist the dial and it starts immediately, so there's no screen to stare at while you decide when to begin — you just get on with whatever you need to do.
Is Compactic a Pomodoro app?
Absolutely. You can set sessions of up to 60 minutes, including the classic 25-minute Pomodoro.
Compactic doesn't impose fixed work and break intervals. You choose how long to focus, when to take a break, and which ticking sound keeps you going.
Pomodoro® and Pomodoro Technique® are registered trademarks of Francesco Cirillo. Compactic is not affiliated with them.
What makes Compactic different from other focus timers?
Compactic puts sound first. Choose from 21 original ticking recordings of real clocks and timers, set your session with a twist of the dial, and get on with your task. You don't need to watch the timer to follow its rhythm.
Are the ticking sounds real recordings?
Yes! All 21 ticking sounds were recorded from real clocks and timers in our little home studio. Some are mechanical, others are battery-powered. Each has its own rhythm and character.
We carefully edited the recordings to preserve what makes each tick unique.
What's the difference between Quick, Medium and Slow?
How fast it ticks: about four, two or one tick a second. Each pace has its own seven recordings, so nothing is sped up or slowed down. Quick is the default.
Does it work when my phone is locked or on silent?
Yes! The ticking continues even when your screen is off, so you can put your phone down and focus on what you're doing.
If you want to check your progress, the Lock Screen shows a simple progress bar without distracting you with minutes and seconds.
Can I listen to music at the same time?
Yes. The tick plays alongside your music.
Can I pause a session?
There's no pause button. To change the time, twist the dial while it runs.
What does it cost?
€6.99 (Eurozone), $5.99 + tax (US) or £5.99 (UK), once, after a 7-day free trial. No subscription. Same price on iPhone and Android. In other countries, the App Store and Google Play show the local price.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Compactic, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Your purchase is linked to your Apple Account or Google account, so you can restore it on another device using the same account.
If I buy on iPhone, does it unlock on Android?

Which languages does the app speak?
English, German, Italian, French, Spanish and Romanian.
Do you collect my data?
No. Compactic doesn't require an account, collect personal data or show ads. Your settings stay on your device.
